Training with, Master Maui, was quite an eye opening experience. Master Maui is not only very skilled in Martial Arts but he is just as skilled at teaching those skills. My friend and I spent a few hours with him and we enjoyed his teaching because he was very clear in his instructions and very enthusiastic making sure that we understood what he taught before moving on. What he taught was so subtle yet so effective, adding a whole new level to Martial Arts. He took what we had learned in other schools and made them more effective without changing the move. Over the years as society has become more civilized, Martial Arts has lost a lot of its effectiveness, "watered down" in other words. Master Maui's family art has not lost its effectiveness. i would recomend Master Maui's teaching to anybody.
I can hardly wait for that dvd to come out. my friend was wondering if you would take prepayments. also is there a way to get some pointers over e-mail?
Talk to you soon, Ty June 2008
******************************************************************************************************************************************** 1.) T. B. Hawaii. As for the question I have today; I recently realized that I was having trouble bringing energy into my head because of taughtness in the neck, I managed to relax the muscles and push some up, but realized that the muscles aren't the actual problem, my perception of how energy flows through them is. After careful thought, I came to the conclusion that at best muscles act as reservoirs for internal energy, allowing us to use it for fighting or healing or whatever we'd like. (Correct). But if you take the opposite route and picture your energy along your bones, it flows right up your spine into your mind very easily. Would you say that the channels the energy takes are along the skeleton and organs, dipping into the muscles for use, (Yes I do), or that I'm not far enough along to realize for myself that it's already everywhere, (Yes energy is already everywhere), and I'm stuck conceptualizing the flow of Chi too much? (No, you are not stuck conceptualizing the flow of Chi or Ki. There are many ways to see, feel, breath, move and use Chi. There is never a wrong way to conceptualize Chi. There are however many different ways to learn, see, feel, breath, move and use Chi or Ki. Moving Chi is one of the most important methods that I teach. My reason is, there will be so many ways my students will use it, I could never keep up. I teach them how to move great amounts of Chi with just a few exercises. teach then how to tap into more of the universal life force and at the same time be very grounded. This way they can move on the earths plain more efficiently as they find or rediscover there path in this life. Sorry if this wording is difficult to understand. I feel as if should be saying so much more. The movement of Chi in your body is Vidal. I hope I'm on the right track, I'm a much better teacher in person (I could see and feel better what is going on when I watch my students) but I'll take a shot at this. Perhaps moving Chi into your head is the wrong direction, move Chi out of your head. What I mean by this is, you already seem to know a lot about Chi, what if you were to move Chi from your head, into your body, release and let go of all concepts and thoughts, raising both arms to the sky reaching out and gathering as much life force as possible and channeling it into your head and body, inhale going up (reaching out) and exhale as you bring your arms and energy towards you. The goal is to get the Chi to flow easier and much more of it. Once you have done this, it should help release the tension in your neck and the Chi should be able to flow in both directions, into and away from your head. I think what you meant is you would like to increase the flow or amount of Chi in your head. I hopes this helps. Balance or increase the external flow and this should help increase the internal flow.) I'll try to limit myself to one question per email, and hopefully if we ever get to sit down and chat we can go over a bit more. (Yes, I would like this.) Thanks again for all this, I never dreamed that I would get to have discussions with someone like yourself. Good luck with everything you're doing. T. B. Hawaii Aloha, Master Maui Saito Response from T. B. Hawaii. Oh wow, that makes a huge difference, at first all the perceptions and constant bickering that's always going on in my mind faded away and I finally got a little taste of that peace and clarity I've been looking for, then it was even easier to feel energy outside my body, around the room, outside the house even, everything became clearer. After I stopped it felt like a lot of Chi sitting in my torso came rushing back up out of my head too, I'm so doing this every day, thanks much! I know we've written a lot about meditation for fluidity of the mind, but how can one begin to apply it to the body as well? (First you or anyone learning Martial Arts has to go through training, not just any kind of training, proper training. What I mean by this is, you must find a good Teacher. I have a very good friend who has studied with another system. After he spend about three years studding with them, he finally achieved a black belt and was invited to the advanced class. He told me that they just started to hint about some of the things I told him when he started to train with me from day one. He was shocked that they were so far behind. It was then that he realized how much farther ahead my teachings were and he decided to quit. Training, proper training should take you through different levels. Starting at the beginning of any move, the move should take you through the basics, the fundamentals and physics of the move. All moves should be broken down during and after you learn the move properly. You then advance to the next level which is intent and awareness. Reading your enemy or attacker. Once this is achieved you then come to a point when you must choose which way the confrontation will go, there all always several ways any situation can go. After you have practice different out comes, your speed and confidence level will go up. Once this happens, you will find that the more you relax the faster and easier it will be to do any move. You will have less muscle tension restriction. In addition to this, there is much to learn about energy, aura, spirit, about Mu-Shin (immoveable mind), about fighting with ancestors, about giving yourself up to a greater power, this power exists within. This is where my trainings start. I will take you a journey to discover this power within. If I were to say to you we are going on a road trip and we lived in Calfornia you could think, maybe we are going to Vegas. But if I tell you, we are going to New York, you will have a different mind set at the beginning of the journey. This mind set will produce a different out come.) For any insights I have in energy, I'm at a loss with keeping my physical form loose and calm during anything but meditation. (Sometimes practice very hard, this should make you feel stronger. And then practice very relaxed, this should give you speed. Once you feel the difference, you should feel when you should be more relaxed in a move or harder. All moves have both, sometimes you will start out relaxed and end hard, sometimes you will start out hard and end relaxed. Eventually you will be in control of your mind, body both hard and soft and speed, with speed comes timing and last will be the grace a fluidity of the move. You will have no intents for the out come other that to keep yourself safe. What happens to the attacker will be the out come of his intention. The goal of learning to be a good Martial Artist or Good Fighter is so you don't have to fight.) I won't be able to use my energy properly in aikido, bushido, Ninjitsu or anywhere else until I can figure that one out, how does your style manage such fluidity? (We practice minimum effort and maximum efffientceny.) Again, sorry for writing so much, but honestly you're the only knowledgable person I've found, I'll still try to keep these short and sparse so as not to take up too much of your time, thanks again.
